Gamescom 2025: Day 1 16,000 steps. A few good games. One AI fruit man. Day 1 is always the quietest at Gamescom, so I used the chance to run through as many halls as possible and scout for Web3 games. I found a few impressive setups already: Avalanche x Opensea had a nice setup featuring Off The Grid, Pixelmon, and LFG. SuiPlay x Team Liquid showed up with Warped Games and XOCIETY. BGA had a smaller booth but was packed with indie titles like Skiverse, OverKnight, Pengu Clash, and PanzerDawgs. Immutable’s space was fully focused on Might & Magic: Fates. And tucked inside the massive Samsung booth? Wilder World showcasing the new shooter mode. Compared to last year, I didn’t find quite as many crypto games “in the wild.” Most were grouped with their respective chain booths. Hopefully I can uncover a few more roaming around on Day 2. Some of the Web2 booths were, as expected, completely over the top: A full ship built for One Piece A tractor for Farming Simulator And of course, cosplay everywhere The evening was packed: Saga x KEXGG kicked off the night, which included an actual conversation with an AI fruit man who gave me health tips Then over to the Beam event, where I may or may not have won the LFG tournament Finally, ended the night at the Wolves x Polygon event before the drive back to Düsseldorf That wraps Day 1, plenty more to explore.
