Months of upgrades have all led to this moment:
ZKsync Era is now connected to ZKsync Gateway.
This is a major milestone for native ZKsync interop 🧵
Gateway is the heart of the Elastic Network. It is a secure, ecosystem-native way for ZKsync Chains to send messages and proofs needed for interoperability. Transaction fees on Gateway are paid with $ZK, giving the token more utility in the network.

Era connecting to Gateway unlocks the first native communication channel in the Elastic Network.
This sets the stage for:
🔲 Chain-to-chain messaging
🔲 Shared liquidity across ZKsync Chains
🔲 Atomic transactions between rollups
Over the coming months, more ZKsync Chains in the Elastic Network will plug into Gateway. The result will be a composable network of chains that talk to each other as easily as apps do on a single chain.
If you run a node, make sure to upgrade to v.28.6.0. And if you’re a developer, get ready. New primitives for building natively interoperable apps are on the horizon.
On Monday, July 28th, ZKsync Era will upgrade to connect with ZKsync Gateway.
This change will only affect external-node operators, who will have to update their nodes to v28.6.0.
All bridging functionality and L1 <-> L2 communication will remain fully operational. However, withdrawals from ZKsync Era to Ethereum Mainnet may experience slightly longer processing times during the first few weeks.
