Triangle scams

Two or more scammers may place orders with you for the same amount at the same time. They may try to trick you by providing the same payment proof for multiple orders, even though they may have only paid once.

Safety tip

Always verify the payments. Never rely solely on payment proofs provided by buyers. Check your bank account or payment app to confirm that you’ve received the exact amount.

Chargeback scams

Scammers may use stolen bank accounts to make payments. After you release the crypto, they may file a chargeback, claiming they never authorized the transaction. This can result in you losing your crypto.

Safety tip

Be alert for payments from accounts that don’t match the buyer’s verified name on OKX TR. Raise a dispute if you receive such a payment.

“Escrow” scams

Scammers may falsely claim their crypto or cash is held “in escrow” by OKX TR or another platform. For example, a seller might refuse to release crypto after you’ve paid, claiming it’s “in escrow.” Or a buyer might claim payment will be credited only after you release the crypto.

Safety tip

Never release the crypto until you’ve confirmed payment in your bank account or payment app. OKX TR never holds cash or crypto in escrow.

OKX TR employees impersonation scams

Scammers may impersonate OKX TR employees to trick you into releasing crypto prematurely. They might falsely claim the buyer has paid or threaten to block your account.

Safety tip

OKX TR employees are identified with an “Official” label in our chat function. OKX TR will never pressure you to release the crypto.
