If you believe this, you didn't study computer science beyond O-notation and binary trees. It's is an empirical science that makes theories that we use to understand the world. Read some ACM papers– publicly admitting you don't know what it is is embarrassing.

The grain of truth: software engineers don't use computer science because appreciation and literature search of computer science isn't a standard part of our training. It's very useful, but most CRUD apps can be built out of the same 4 data structures from the 1950s
The gap between academia and deployment is huge, which means there's so much alpha to be gained from studying and implementing ideas from computer science– it's inspired much of my own research
@yudhister_ it also would have helped reduce costs substantially; they eventually had to shut down due to costs and a faster database is powering @ExaAILabs, there are entire vector db startups (many of which don't seem to use it lol)
