I am at using the @UR_global virtual card now for about 2 months. And I would like to share my experience with it. I've been one of the few lucky pre-testers for UR and started already in the Beta status. UR does not have an App, and also at the moment no physical card. The whole experience is concentrating on a virtual card connected with a swiss bank account. 1. First the KYC UR is not available in all countries out there. It may be related to each national limitations, but if your country is included, you will need to have a Passport to finish your KYC. This has been partly criticized by some users, who don't have a passport but only their national document. I am not sure if that was the requirement to open the swiss bank account, or other regulations, but it is at the moment as it is. 2. Onboarding Process The whole process is done on the UR homepage, which can be easily accessed either per Web or per mobile. After the input of your invite code and passing KYC (can take up to a full day) you can access the functions. In my case, the KYC got stocked the first time, becaus the photo of my passport was blurry. I needed to contact the customer service chat on the homepage to get it cleared, as the process itself was not changing. I gave the input that this kind of UX should be improved, as the customer don't really know when a process is stocked and what should be done next. After that it seems that the process has now been optimized. 3. Getting money into your account You will get an EVM compatible address where you can deposit USDC on Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, @Mantle_Official network. $ETH can also be used on Base, Arbitrum and Ethereum as deposit. Be aware that you are not able to transfer any assets out of your account at the moment. The account there is custodial, so as long as UR is not supporting withdrawal of the assets, you can't get them out. The only one-way is to deposit your crypto assets (USDC/ETH) to your bank account. There is a 0.5% Fee + Network cost (Gas fee), which is going to be deducted from your cyrpto asset. When deposting your crypto into your bank account, you can choose to convert it into EUR, USD, CHF or RMB. Don't worry too much, as you can later exchange within your bank account between the four different currencies. 4. Using your UR Card You can add your UR Card to different mobile payment solutions like Apple Pay and co. In South Korea only Apple Pay is supported. After adding your UR Card to mobile wallet, you can pay everywhere were Apple Pay is accepted. Depending on what kind of currencies are deposited to your bank account, it will get deducted from there. I've setup USD as main currency, so all my KRW payments are paid in USD. One thing that I would like to suggest to the UR team is and what I also got as a feedback from other Korean users is, that the exchange rate from KRW-USD is not really good. It doesn't matter if you are anyhow paying in USD (or EUR or RMB) but if you are paying in another currenty you will have to have a look at the exchange rate. In normal cases, the exchange rate differed from the general exchange rate up to 3.5%. I may only be a few cents when you buy a Coke in your convenience store, but as mentioned before, would not recommend to buy your Lamborghini in KRW with your UR card, because of the exchange rate. Thing that UR could do a better job here. 5. Conclusion In my case, the Virtual Card is a great addition. There are no additional perks like cashbacks or offering high yield on your deposited USDC, etc. But having a swiss based IBAN and being able to offramp Crypto to a swiss based bank alone is an unique option, you don't get anywhere else. Fiat Peer to Peer (from UR account to UR account) is already available, and the Bank transfer based on IBAN is announced as coming soon. Additionally, if we would be later able to use the assets on UR for different kind of Mantle DeFi activities to gain real yield, that would be a game changer for TradFi and DeFi.
