The different shades of KOL
There are a five opinion leader archetypes on CT right now: 1. KOL as an InfoFi Farmer No classic paid ads—just nonstop shilling of Kaito/Cookie projects and farming events like Yapio, Loudio, etc. 2. KOL as a Business A blend of organic (research, insights) and sponsored content. Reputation still matters here → high-quality data even in promos, plus visible DD. 3. KOL as a Service Will promote whatever they’re paid to—memecoins, infra, GameFi, you name it. 90% of their engagement is botted. 4. KOL as a Marketing Funnel Usually has a primary business (agency, tool, or protocol) and uses their X presence as a funnel for that core operation. 5. KOL as a Journeyman Rare post-30K. Genuinely documents their learning and exploration. Still monetizes via KOL deals (investments, ambassadorships), but content stays personal. Anything I missed?
