Our new Bitcoin Node app update has sparked a lot of conversation.
Plus some confusion.
Time to clear the air, and separate facts from fiction regarding the name, the software, and our principles.
On the other hand, the Bitcoin Knots and Libre Relay apps in our app store are packaged and submitted directly by developers *officially* associated with those projects, hence their names.

Naming aside, this brings up a more important, first-principles question: what does it mean to support Bitcoin?
For us, it means supporting a healthy, decentralized network.
And a healthy network is one where users have a choice of diverse, consensus-compatible clients.
Our job isn't to force a specific implementation on you. Our job is to build a beautiful, reliable self-hosting platform where you can easily make your own choice.
We trust you and believe you're smart enough to decide for yourself. That's what self-sovereignty is all about.
