🇺🇸 Fed Keeps Interest Rates Unchanged, But Highest Level of Disagreement Since 1992
The Fed decided to keep interest rates unchanged, but internal divisions were sharp, with an 8-4 vote, the highest level of disagreement in over 30 years.
Governor Stephen Miran continued his dissenting vote, supporting a 0.25% cut, while the remaining three dissenting votes came from the Presidents of the Cleveland, Minneapolis, and Dallas Fed branches.
These three members agreed to keep interest rates unchanged but did not support including "dodging signals" in the policy statement at this time.
The point of contention lies in the message indicating that the Fed remains open to the possibility of future interest rate adjustments, depending on economic data and risks.
