#TaikoVerifierBreached Taiko confirmed two simultaneous incidents on June 22 🚨
ERC20 Vault exploited for $1M+. And the ZK verification layer itself was breached.
Taiko's team statement: "all cross-chain bridge security assumptions are no longer reliable." Users told to withdraw all bridged funds immediately. Exchanges asked to halt TAIKO deposits and withdrawals ⚠️
This is not a smart contract bug. The verification layer — the core mechanism ZKRollups use to confirm transaction validity — was compromised. That's an L2 infrastructure-level failure, not an application-level one 💀
Most past exploits were smart contract vulnerabilities or private key leaks. Those are bad but scoped. A compromised verification layer means the cryptographic guarantees the entire system is built on are in question 🫠
Taiko just issued the highest-severity alert an L2 project can give. "Withdraw everything now" is not language teams use lightly 🤔
Two questions worth sitting with: does this change your confidence in ZKRollup security broadly — or is this Taiko-specific? And how much do you normally keep in cross-chain bridges? Does this event change that number? 👇
