TRON mainnet is going to reduce production, what do you think?
Recently, I saw that TRON's production reduction proposal (TIP-738) has been swiped, and as an old user who has watched many mainnet adjustments, I can't help but want to talk about it.
Let's start with the main points:
Voting on the proposed production cut is expected to begin on June 10, and if passed, the block reward will be halved from 16 TRX to 8 TRX, and the voting reward will be reduced from 160 TRX to 128 TRX. On the one hand, the income of the super-representative will be reduced, and on the other hand, the rate of inflation in TRX will also slow down significantly.
The logic of the production cut is actually not complicated: control the new supply = increase scarcity = long-term benefit to the currency price and network stability. But the actual impact is often not so linear.
From the perspective of network participants, this wave of operations is a bit like "pay less wages and hope that the company's stock price will rise", whether it is acceptable or not depends on everyone's confidence and endurance. Will the super-delegates move to other ecosystems because of the reduced rewards? Will ordinary crypto holders feel that deflationary expectations are strengthened and increase their positions? Time will test on all of this.
But what's interesting is that at the same time as this proposal was being hotly discussed, Brother Sun had just appeared on the cover of Forbes, and the single-day protocol revenue of TRON broke $13 million in May—the activity and revenue scale of this chain is indeed strong, and the user base is far more stable than many people think.
Therefore, this production reduction is not only a "tightening" in the mechanism, but also a step forward for TRON to move towards the "noble chain". Some worry that the reduction in incentives will shake the foundations, while others believe that it is the reduction in production that makes the value begin to show.
We may not be able to predict the short-term fluctuations in prices, but we can observe whether this change in mechanism will actually bring stronger ecological stickiness and trust rebuilding.
Finally, again, the sentence:
Cutting production is not the end, but the beginning of choosing faith.
