I love what the @ocean_mining guys are doing with DATUM and helping decentralize mining. But I do disagree about their assessment on this spam issue. I think they're being a bit hyperbolic. Yes it's a nuisance, yes these JPEG people are spammers - but it's not a showstopper for overall adoption of Bitcoin as money. I support the right of every node runner to choose what software they want to run whether its Bitcoin Core, Knots, btcd or whatever else. In practice if bitcoin truly does become as popular as we all think it will, people will just have to pay the necessary price to get their transactions included in a block. Lower value transactions may well be priced out. Make your peace with that, and otherwise focus your efforts on other things - whether that is mining decentralization, great consensus clean up, CTV, VAULT, self custody and lightning adoption, stacking sats etc. tl;dr don't get too worked up about spam
